Biccode Estate is a 150-hectare coffee and pepper plantation situated near Belur, at the start of Karnataka's coffee belt in the Hassan District. Originally promoted by Englishman Clement Lake, whose family resided here from 1906 to 1935, the estate retains its colonial character through the historic Biccode bungalow — now restored and open as Biccode Woodside Heritage, a heritage homestay since 2023. Growing both Arabica and Robusta at elevations between 950 and 1,180 metres, the estate receives approximately 60 inches of rainfall annually. Tributaries of the Yagachi river system run nearby. Beyond coffee and pepper, the estate also cultivates avocados. Its award-winning natural-processed coffees have drawn attention to this often-overlooked corner of Karnataka's western fringe.
