A member of the Sangameshwar Coffee group — the same collective behind the celebrated Attikan Estate — Gungegiri Estate was originally established by British brothers W.L. and C.S. in the Chandra Drona hills. The Baba Budangiri range, where this farm is situated, is the legendary birthplace of Indian coffee, lending Gungegiri both a rich historical context and some of Karnataka's most favourable growing conditions.
