Powai Tea Estate is located in the Tinsukia district of Upper Assam, part of the Brahmaputra valley tea belt known for strong, malty Assam teas. The estate was previously owned by TATA Tea (bought in 1983) and was later transferred to Amalgamated plantations in 2007 as part of plantation restructuring. It continues to operate as a major CTC tea producing estate.
