Founded in the late 1880s — Salawara meaning 'a string of blessings' — this 360-acre estate in Belur, Hassan has been cultivated by three generations of the YDN family. Located at 1,128 metres in the Western Ghats near Sakleshpur, the land is ringed by five man-made irrigation lakes and intercropped with pepper, areca nut, oranges, and silver oak. Arabica varieties Chandragiri and SLN 795 are produced here using washed, honey, and anaerobic methods. The estate received the Best Quality Bean Award from Ernesto Illy in 2018 and has since deepened its commitment to experimental specialty lots.
